Teal clothes and accessories are easier to match than it looks, but it's important not to overdo the color.

Finding what to wear with teal can sometimes be a wee bit troublesome since it’s not a flexible color like black, but there are many ways to make it work. And according to the color source at Pantone.com, teal is currently part of the fall fashion color trend although it can be worn in any season. Specifically, Pantone calls it Majolica Blue, which is a darker and mysterious variant of teal. Expect to see it paired with warm olive this season—a rich yellow green that has the look of sophistication.

Colors to Wear with Teal

Browns: Teal matches all variants of brown including tan. If wearing teal with brown, never include black as the third wheel. An example of a tasteful ensemble is a teal top with brown pants, brown shoes and a beige, cream or tan bag with gold or bronze accessories.

Yellows: Stay away from yellows that go near neon. Instead, choose mustard, pale and banana yellows, as well as yellow-green. If a third color must be added to the outfit, try gray. Try wearing a yellow top, gray bottom and a teal clutch or purse.

Peach: Teal worn with peach exudes more of a sophisticated and mature look. In this case, the darker the teal, the better it looks. A third color can be white or cream. One way to dress: a peach top, white bottom, teal purse and/or hat, gray or white shoes.

Light pink: To add more femininity to teal, add a pink touch to the outfit along with gray, white or silver. Consider using pink as accents with earrings, nail polish or bags.

Black: Teal is also commonly paired with black in the form of belts, shoes and jewelry. A third color that goes well together is white or gray. With black and teal, silver jewelry generally looks more appealing than gold jewelry.

Cranberry: Teal and cranberry red give off a warm look when paired together. For a third color, add black, beige, cream or gray.

Purple: Stick with a lighter shade or a darker shade of purple and not in-betweens. For a trendy look, put on a light purple casual frock with a teal beret hat, sheer gray leggings, brown shoes, brown bag and gold accessories.

Wearing Teal Tastefully

Refrain from wearing teal from head to toe. Doing so will make a person look unoriginal and plain since it looks as if she can't think of any other color to wear. An easy way to remember what the basic, wearable teal-matching colors are is by getting into the Thanksgiving holiday mentality. The holiday is copious with brown, orange and yellow hues that match wonderfully well with teal.
