A peek-a-boo lace dress, or sexy black lace leggings - there are endless ways to work this fashion trend into your wardrobe.
Lace turned up everywhere on the runways this season. Models donned boyfriend blazers with lace bandeau bra tops peeking out from underneath. Legging pants got a whole lot more revealing when done in sexy black lace. And everything from dresses to ankle booties got the passementerie treatment. NADALust, love, passion, and infatuation are the words used to describe Canadian designer NADA’s Spring 2010 collection – varying degrees of a similar feeling. And not surprisingly, the lace that appears in the collection is of varying degrees of sexiness. A small piece of lace at the bottom of a pencil skirt says "office appropriate" – a full lace sleeveless top paired with a pencil skirt is deliciously scandalous at the office, but chic under a blazer at the after-work local. In perhaps a nod to a lace dress of Prada fame, NADA went for the whole shebang, and designed a body-conscious black lace dress that hugs the curves, and toys with the imagination. This dress is not for the faint of heart, but rather the seductress in the crowd. ChanelIf you prefer a softer effect, look no further than Chanel’s Spring 2010 collection. White and cream lace dresses in youthfully tailored shapes takes lace from femme fatale to sweet home Alabama. It’s sweet country chic, with a hint of mischief – delicate, innocent, yet still appropriate for a roll in the hay (in fact that’s how Karl Lagerfeld closed off the show, with a good old Chanel hay roll by models Freja Beha Erichsen, Baptiste Giabiconi and Lara Stone – ooh la la). ValentinoSomewhere in between the dark dramatic lace at NADA and the sweetly mischievous lace at Chanel sits Valentino Spring 2010. No longer innocent, but not yet dangerously confident is the twenty-something girl with a bit of edge in her step. The rocking lace look at Valentino was toned down by the muted steel and cream colour palette, but the effect was a beautiful juxtaposition of rock n’ roll meets classical chic. Whatever your preference there is a lace outfit to suit your age, style, and desire to tease and seduce. Lace shows some skin while remaining elegant. Just be wary of wear you don an all-over lace number. Sometimes just a peek at the lace underneath is more alluring than you would think.
