Don't Take Part in These Trends Gone Bad!

Fashion fads themselves are not a bad thing, but when the same old trend is trotted out season after season, perhaps it is being mistreated.

Showing off a new trend can be great. However, when the trend has been done month in and month out it can become tired and de passe. What’s worse, is the person sporting the trend is often unaware it is time for a change; and while no one is disputing that a trend can have its place, it is meant to be temporary, which is why it is good to remember that sometimes when the season ends, so should the trend.

  • Pants with Butt Writing: By wearing these unglamorous duds that broadcast, you are telling the world (without anyone inquiring) that your rear end is “Juicy”, “Pink” or that you are an avid shopper at Abercrombie and Fitch. Unfortunately, this is one tacky trend that is always sure to send the wrong message. How can you tell if you are mistreating this trend? If you have left the house in them.
  • Uggs with Everything: While Ugg boots can look stylish when paired with some great jeans and worn within the appropriate season or climate, it is when they’re worn with every possible clothing combination that they become tacky. Plus, relentless wearing causes the boots’ once soft sheepskin exterior and cushiony fleece lining to become matted and dirty, which undoubtedly puts the wearer of these over-used outback creations in tacky trend territory; and the yuckiest scenario of all? Wearing them in the summer time – P.U.! The only thing worse that this fashion-tired footwear? Knockoffs.
  • Crocs: Available in every color of the rainbow, these rubber rejects neither look nor sound stylish. The worst part is that they come in styles that resemble dress shoes, including sling backs and wedges. One thing to ponder when tempted to purchase a pair; if the same thing is available in toddler sizes, perhaps you should reconsider. With this in mind, Crocs are best left to the nursery school set.
  • Hair Extensions: There is no doubt that hair extensions can make women look amazing, not to mention they add instant over the top glamour. However, it is when they go unmaintained or worn to the point of damage (both the real hair and the extension) that individuals can find themselves in hot water with their hair. Extensions are high maintenance and pricey. So unless you have endless amounts of time and money to invest, it’s best for many of us to leave these locks alone.
  • Too Tight Skinny Jeans: While the silhouette of a slim fit jean can look super chic, still, not all skinny jeans are created equally. Some contain too much lycra, which causes them too look less like jeans and more like leggings or tights, which is fine if your age ends in “teen”. Unfortunately, many times the individual who dons these too-tight denim “don’ts” ends up looking like nothing more than a blue jean sausage.
