British retailer Top Shop is never far from the news, with its Kate Moss clothing label, launch of designer-for-less Danielle Scutt's collection and a NY flagship store.
The last month has seen the fashion chain Top Shop, (affectionately known as Toppers), featured in the media more than most, with the launch on 2nd June of a new designer-for-less label, Danielle Scutt for Top Shop, and the release of goddess Kate Moss’s latest summer 2008 collection. Top Shop in New YorkThere is also the imminent opening of its New York flagship store in the fashionable area of Soho, Manhattan. Due to open in early October 2008, Kate Moss herself will attend, and Top Shop also intends to launch a U.S. website, (prior to the store's opening) in September, offering same day delivery to the Manhattan area. The Popularity of Top ShopThis British fashion label is famed for its reasonably priced, fast fashion clothing, which is also favored by a number of celebrities such as Kate Middleton, Prince William’s girlfriend, and recently wed Mrs Coleen Rooney. Its designer-for-less philosophy means that it is dedicated to making right-off-the-runway fashion affordable, with its current trendy looks and A-list outfits, and therefore has a huge following,as the thousands of women who queued outside the Oxford Circus store to be the first to buy last summer's collection, will attest. Kate Moss for Top ShopAlmost one year on from the initial launch of the Kate Moss for Top Shop label (grossing over £3.5 million in the first week), comes the release of Miss Moss’s Summer 2008 eclectic collection. According to the Look magazine's 26th May feature, "Kate’s Glam New Summer Line," the collection includes cool tattoo prints, floaty maxis and right on trend printed tees which gives a nod to the global traveler theme. One of the most popular designs is sure to be a boho-style sun dress and a red pansy-print dress, which is being touted by the media as the IT dress of the summer. According to the Telegraph’s “Special K Factor Has Struck Again, of 20 May 2008, Top Shop sold 200 of the dress in its Oxford Circus store, in the first hour and a half of the launch. Other items from the collection include some pretty ruffle dresses, a ‘50s-style prom dress, candy striped shirt dress, a 40s-style angel sleeved top, Aztec print blouse, and a Victoriana Leather jacket. There are also the briefest of hotpants, and Kate’s very own designer, charity printed tee. Getting hold of Moss’s latest collection has never been easier as TopShop online recently introduced payment by PayPal, making it more convenient for many of its international customers to buy. If you are nowhere near a Top Shop store, then their online shopping site currently ships to three main areas, Europe, Australia and the U.S.A.
