How to Wear a Sarong

The sarong is one of the most versatile and baffling summer wardrobe items. It can transform from a beach cover-up to a mini dress, but how do you achieve the look?

Check out these tips for three sexy sarong styles.

Tie-Front

The tie-front style is the simplest way to wear a sarong. It's easy to accomplish, sexy to look at, and serves the added benefit of masking any unseemly fat or bulges in your hips and thighs. To tie the sarong, hold it behind you with the top of the material centered at the small of your back. Grab two fistfuls of fabric and pull it until your hands meet just below your navel. Then, tie the two pieces of material into a double knot. For a dash of extra style, you can rotate the knot to one side, leaving it to rest just on your hip.

Wrap

A wrap style gives your sarong a tighter, sleeker fit and shows off a sexy silhouette. To wrap your sarong, first hold it horizontally behind you. Fold one side tightly around your body and hold it. Pull the other side of the fabric straight out from your hip and make sure it is as taut as possible. Wrap this side around your body, taking care to keep it tight around your hips. To secure the wrap, tuck approximately three inches of the top layer into the bottom layer.

Mini Dress

The sarong can also become a sexy mini dress for beachfront shopping or evening events. To form a dress, hold the sarong in front of you, laying it just over your breasts. With each hand full of material, pull both ends of the fabric behind you and swap the handfuls behind your back. Wrap both sides back to the front of your body, with your left hand slightly higher than your right hand. Secure the dress with a high double knot on your left side.
