Rompers have been around for a couple of seasons, but have really taken off this summer. A hit on the celebrity circuit, exposing lots of leg and self-confidence.

The secret to wearing a one-piece romper is picking one that works for your body type. You can pull off a romper if you choose a style that fits your body well, and drapes your curves in the right places. Selecting the appropriate fabric also makes a difference. Clingy fabrics, like silk, show curves more than heavier fabrics like denim or cotton. Sticking with a solid color presents a longer, leaner look.

Add Accessories to Make it Your Own

To stamp on your own style, add subtle accessories to your romper if it lacks intricate detailing. Break up the romper with a belt or add a long chain necklace for an elegant look. Shoes can dramatically change the look of a romper. Wear pumps for a more sophisticated look or flat sandals with a fleece romper.

Summer-tested Rompers

  • Knit Romper–If you don’t want to bare it all, a knit romper with a wide neck and square-cut sleeves is an arms-friendly choice.
  • Beach Romper–Wear a strapless terry-cloth romper with elastic banding at the waist on an afternoon trip to the beach. Match the romper with flat sandals and a straw bag.

Elegant for A Night Out:

Then of course there are the elegant satin jumpsuits and rompers. They are a bit more fitted, therefore also very sexy. Stay with classy satin fabric to make sure it’s not to be confused with a pajama.

Denim Rompers and Jumpsuits:

Style them up with with metallic or colorful high heels. The long denim jumpsuit goes even more in the hippie direction so don’t style this one with 70s like accessories like hairbands or crazy earrings. Add golden jewelry and high heel sandals.

Casual/Comfortable Cotton Style Rompers

Short jumpsuits or rompers that are 100% cotton tend to look like a piece of underwear or pajama. The only way out if you already did buy one is to style it up with elegant accessories (look for a trendy belt!). Those rompers though could look cute at the beach or pool as a cover up.One more thing: try to stay away from patterns and stick to one (darker) color; even the long version can look just too comfy when you add a (wild) pattern to it.

Still not convinced that you can wear a romper? Make a statement in a wide leg knit jumpsuit with spaghetti straps that balances fashion with a flattering style. Dress it up for evening with metallic pumps and gold accessories, or just experience the comfort and versatility of wearing a onesie.
