With the recent recession and downturn in global economics many are searching for ways to cope financially. Often, people still wish to dress to impress, but lack money.

Clothing Exchange Party

Get together with a group of friends who share a great fashion sense. Throw a Clothing Exchange Party. This is where members bring their own clothing which is clean and in good condition to the party. They offer to exchange their clothing with other members for clothing of equal value. One could easily obtain a complete seasonal wardrobe at one clothing exchange party.

Treat this like a real party: have some fun, serve snacks and party punch, play music. Break the clothing down into two distinct groups: clothes that are expensive designer fashions and those that are moderately priced. Those who brought designer clothing are allowed to exchange their items for other designer clothing. Those who brought along moderately priced clothing are allowed to select from similar clothing. Any clothing that is left over might easily be donated to a local charity group or the Salvation Army.

Consignment Shops

Visit consignments shops in upscale neighborhoods. Often, clothing that has never been worn is left on consignment at these shops. Here’s how it works: The consignment store owner provides a place for the merchandise to be sold in exchange for a percentage of the sale. Many items are designer wear and great finds. These items often sell for less than half their original price. Give it a try. These shops are known to have vintage Chanel, Plus More!.

Auction Sites

Online auction sites are a great place to search for designer wear at very low prices. Or to find great clothing bargains. Often, these clothes were never worn by the seller and are in great condition. Many sellers bundle clothes in batches for very low prices. Get in on the action at eBay and place a bid for a few fabulous finds.

Local Thrift Shops

Thrift shops use to have a bad reputation. That was then. This is now! Visit a thrift shop in your own neighborhood for a few good finds. Often, brand new clothing might be obtained at these shops for low prices. This is a great way to find a few fashion accessories like belts, ties, scarves, jewelry.

Friends & Family

Ask friends and family if they have any clothes no longer wanted. Offer to take them off their hands. This is a winning situation for both parties. They clean out their closets. You get a new wardrobe.
