It’s time to tighten your belt, by investing a wide waist-defining one, and purchasing a versatile patent purse and pumps which will last several seasons.

No matter how old your wardrobe, it is possible to add some fall flair by following some simple fast fashion ideas.

Economy-chic Fashion Tips for Fall

These economy-friendly tips can give any existing outfit an up-to-the minute look.

  • To update a winter coat, wear it with a wide cinch-waisted belt to give it a fit and flair shape.
  • If you have an oversized blazer or boyfriend jacket, then wear it as a dress by belting it at the waist. To toughen-up last season’s print dress, throw over an old biker jacket. This look is one of the biggest of the season, no matter what your age.
  • Scrunch up your jacket sleeves or wear them rolled-up. This casual look goes for blazers too and is very on-trend.
  • Anything goes in boots this season – reboot your wardrobe by digging out those 70s style knee-highs or cuff boots, they are oh-so-now.
  • Big, long sweaters can also be work as a dress for a much more feminine shape. Cardigan coats are part of the fashion focus this fall. Wear them with contrasting tights and knee-high boots.
  • Hoisery makes a statement all of its won with bright colors and bold prints. Invest in a pair of novelty leggings to add a completely different look to an existing dress, tunic or skirt. Alternatively match winter berry-colored opaques with your shoes for what is known as the tone-on-tone trend.
  • Take a summer print dress and layer it over a very fine turtleneck for a wintry (and warmer) look. Black or gray is best. This fall is also the season of the clashing prints, wear plaids and prints together or mix different floral pattern in one outfit.
  • Add a pop to your existing mid-calf skirts and short sharp shift dresses by inesting in some showstopping shoes. Mid-calf lengths are the new hem-length this fall.
  • Retrieve anything lace that is lurking in your closet. A lace evening purse, blouse, gloves etc. Break the rules by wearing it as daywear. Thanks to Prada, lace swamped the fall runways in all shapes and forms.
  • Open your jewelry box and pile on your necklaces. It’s all about neckwear this winter. Chains are layered and collars are embellished with jewels. Now is the time to wear costume jewelry with pride. Pearls are big and faux and cocktail rings are huge. Don’t just keep them for eveningwear.
