Net-A-Porter Designer Summer SaleFrom Stella McCartney to Marc Jacobs and Missoni to Phillip Lim
Boost your summer wardrobe by bagging a bargain, as Net-A-Porter offers great reductions in designer labels like Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim, Missoni and Stella McCartney.
There has never been a better time to buy your designer labels. In its latest Fashion News update to customers (24 June 2008), Net-A-Porter, the word's premier online luxury fashion site, has just announced up to 50% reductions in its summer sale, giving you more spending power to your purse. As stores start to clear their stocks in preparation for new fall collections, this is the time to stock up for winter or on those wardrobe classics – versatile pieces which have the longevity and flexibility to take you from desk to bar or beach to barbeque. It’s also the right time to splash out on some trendy outfits which will update your wardrobe, in this season’s colors and cuts. Designer BargainsHeavyweight labels in the sale include Miu Miu, Missoni, Fendi, Chloé, Jimmy Choo, Phillip Lim, Robert Cavalli and Marc Jacobs. 3.1 Phillip LimWhen it comes to tailored, classic cuts with right-on-trend influences, one of the best designer labels around is 3.1 Phillip Lim. Marie Claire November 2007 touted US designer Phillip Lim to be the next big thing and according to the magazine, “his clothes are the perfect balance between elegance and edgy cool.” Net-A-Porter’s summer sale bargains feature some of Lim’s trademark fluid dresses, and cropped jackets. In keeping with current trends, one of the best buys is the accordion-sleeved cropped jacket, (30% off, now £273), which would look great teamed with jeans or worn on top of a dress or skirt. An edgy looking linen box jacket, with 40% off the original price (now £204), is another classic piece — according to Elinor Glyn, in Karen Homer's Things a Woman Should Know About Style, "A lady, however, poor, should wear fine linen." Also in Lim's collection, are several elegant block-color trapeze dresses which would flatter any figure (provided they are worn with high-heels) and in keeping with current craze for superhero-inspired outfits, Lim’s cord embellished dress and top, featured in Style.com’s Superhero fashion feature. Going back to those wardrobe basics, two classics include a plain white belted flutter-sleeve dress, perfect for day wear and a cream patent trench coat. Snap up a bargain ready for fall/winter with Lim’s military knit coat or long cashmere cardigan. Finally there are some up-to-the-minute rolled cuff cropped pants, the new on-the-ankle length (otherwise known as 7/8), which are versatile enough to pass muster for a couple of seasons, and some can’t-go-wrong wide leg and skinny jeans. Team them with Lim’s bow front blouse (reduced by 50%) or a waterfall bib blouse with flattering ¾ length sleeves (60% off at £102.) Stella McCartney CollectionAnother much favored on-trend designer is Stella McCartney, who has seen a rapid rise in fortunes since her first foray into the fashion world, with the launch of her label in 1995. Ms McCartney has an instinct for creating elegant but edgy collections, which has celebrities clamoring for her designs. From delectable flirty dresses to floral Babygro jumpsuits, this is one designer who is going from strength to strength. In Net-A-Porter’s designer sale, there is a McCartney classic double-breasted trench and collarless wool jacket, which will transcend many seasons. Good buys for fall/winter include a gray oversized cardigan, oversized v-neck sweater and a chunky square-neck long cardigan which can be worn as a dress. Now is the time to snap up Stella’s summer sandals, which have been featured heavily this season in women’s glossies such as Marie Claire, InStyle and SHOP Til-You-Drop. There’s McCartney’s sky-high wooden floral wedges (30% off) and supercool tribal platforms with a real summery edge. Lovely Lucite is right on trend, with lucite heel sandals at 30% off. Finally, if you are tempted with a tote, there’s McCartney’s chic gray canvas shopper or black large felt tote, and in keeping with the hard box clutches that the fashion industry is feeling this year, there’s McCartney’s cool metallic punch hole purse, and an engraved wooden clutch, a perfect match for the engraved wooden platforms which have been a favorite feature in numerous fashion spreads. Missoni MaxisNo summer sale would be complete without a smattering of maxi dresses, the dress of the season. When it comes to designer maxis then one label on everyone’s lips is Missoni, which has its beautiful Karolina Silk gown on offer in the sale at a reduction of 25%. (now £1,710). Perfect for the beach is Missoni’s Indonesian print kaftan and feminine and flirty triangle-shaped bikinis, which are so flattering for boyish shapes. Summer Maxi dressesOther maxi dresses, with up to 40% reductions include 3.1 Phillip Lim’s floral print strapless dress, DVF summer chic yellow Pauline maxi and Emilio Pucci’s Ventagli maxi dress. With a whopping 60% off, there’s also Marc Jacobs unusual multi-colored maxi with contrasting waistcoat detailing and cross-over back. Net-A-PorterNet-A-Porter.com according to Vogue magazine has "revolutionized the way we buy designer clothes" and provides high end fashion at your fingertips.
